Absolute comfort

Everyone has that favorite comfort meal. For me it is a nice and savory plate of roast chicken, mashed potatoes, dressing, and rich buttery rolls all smothered in gravy. In addition to loving to eat this meal, I love cooking it. All the prep work, the chopping, the many steps involved, getting lost in a world of measurements and timing everything just right...I absolutely love it. Today I made a beautiful roast chicken dinner. I literally worked on this meal most of the day. All the while, I listened to one of my favorite comfort shows: Downton Abbey. Whenever I get the chance, I will never pass on escaping into the Crawley's little world. I love all the kitchen talk between Mrs. Patmore and Daisy. And today while I was chopping and mixing, I could almost imagine that I was in their kitchen too. There are so many steps involved in getting a roast dinner just right. One of the most time consuming things to make is something that isn't even the star player of the show, but a simple compliment that ties everything together quite nicely: melt in your mouth dinner rolls. At holiday dinners, I am the designated roll maker. Everyone raves about them. They take several hours to make and are so buttery that they almost literally melt in your mouth. I have mentioned in other posts that I have a food blog as well. It is called Off The Menu: https://offthemenunow.blogspot.com/2011/11/im-bringing-rolls-dinner-rolls.html#more. You can find my roll recipe there. Go check it out, and if you're so inclined, like my facebook page (off the menu.)
