Butterflies

Back in 2014 I went to Moody Gardens in Galveston. It's a really cool place to visit on the island. There are three pyramids there and they each have something different. The blue pyramid is an aquarium, the clear one is the rainforest pyramid, and the pink one is the discovery pyramid. I've been to the aquarium one and the rainforest one a few times (they are both super cool,) but the discovery one only once; I wasn't so sold on that one. At the very top of the rainforest pyramid there used to be a butterfly exhibit. I haven't seen it since 2014, so I don't think that they have the butterflies anymore. It's a shame, it was pretty cool.

Then as you eventually walked through the rainforest layers and reached the bottom, there was a window where you could see all the butterfly chrysalises. On this trip, when I took a picture of all the butterflies to be, I didn't realize until when I was looking back at my photos that on the left of the picture, I had actually captured the moment that one of the brand-new flutters was emerging. How cool is that?!

When I was in middle school, my brother got me the coolest present: he had gotten me a butterfly garden. After I got my garden, I sent away for my caterpillars. I put them in their little home, fed them and watched them grow, then the really cool part, watching them build their beautiful chrysalises, and I eventually watched them emerge. When they had turned into butterflies I got to release them so that they could go and do fun fluttery butterfly things! Such a unique and memorable gift.
